How Do You Become Successful?

What’s your definition of success?  Have you ever really taken the time to think and answer that question?

Animation Factory®,keys,success,text,web animations,web elements,dangling,messages,concepts

I use to think success meant having long fancy job titles, making a certain amount of money and driving a decent car.  Although, deep down I didn’t really care about those things, I adopted the thought process because that’s what the world considered success.  And I was unhappy.

So, what do you consider success?  What is your definition?

Joshua 1:8 states “this book of law shall not depart out thy mouth; but thou shalt meditate therein day and night, that thou mayest observe to do according to all that is written therein: for then thou shalt make thy way prosperous, and then thou shalt have good success.”

Success doesn’t come according to our standards and what we think or expect.  Nope.  Success comes when we study the law.  What is the law?  God’s word, the Bible.

If you intend to make a difference in the lives of other individuals you cannot and will not be effective without God in the forefront.  “The steps of a good man are ordered” Psalm 37:23.

If you are still deciding your worth by what the world says, then stop it!  The world’s definition of success is not God’s definition.  You cannot base the assignment, the purpose God has ordained for your life on whether or not it is prestigious enough.  Or if you will be “successful” (according to what the world considers success) doing it.  Success in God’s eyes is not about money, or prestige or leadership roles, or power, or any of the other things the world considers success.  Success in God’s eyes is doing His work and manifesting His Kingdom here on earth. Being successful means serving.  Serving your gift, what God has placed within you, to others; the ones He has called you to reach.  It’s NOT about you, but about God!

When I asked the question of success in the title you thought it was going to be some 5 step process to where you had to do something cool, didn’t you?  Nope, it’s not that!  It’s all about God and doing His will!

Let’s be like Paul and fight the good fight the good fight of faith.  Change your thought process, renew your mind, and cleanse your heart.  And as you walk out His assignment for your life; as you complete your purpose, God will make your way prosperous and then, yes, and then, you shall have success – God’s way!

Be Blessed!

What Makes You Unique?

I do a lot of reading and listening to audio teachings that empower and grow me, and this past week I was listening to a well-known bible teacher that suffered from sexual abuse as a child.  She mentioned having many limiting beliefs about her ability when God called her into ministry and the many disparaging remarks that were made concerning her ability, background and mainly her voice. Her uniqueness is her voice.

What limiting beliefs have you been holding on to?

This particular teacher went on to say that although she had doubts and fears she was obedient. She knew that God had placed a desire to spread and teach the gospel to thousands.  The same uniqueness that others said would be a hindrance to her God actually used to show His glory in her life through television, radio, books, etc.

What makes you unique?

As a child I could remember my father telling me that I was very inquisitive as he answered yet another question from me with a smile on his face. One day in my early twenties a co-worker made the remark “You ask to many questions!” in a very mean tone that I hate to admit, made me cry silently as I walked away with a look of hurt on my face.  All I did was ask her how everything was going since we worked in the same department but different areas and we were passing each other in the hallway.  It wasn’t even a stop and chat kind of conversation!  But that day has forever been severed in my mind.  I stopped asking questions for a long time. I know now that it was the adversary’s way of trying to deter what God had for me in my future.

I am very inquisitive.  I ask questions always have, but not just regular questions, no, my questions are thought-provoking and deep.  I like to call them the why behind the why questions. It’s just who I am. God has used my uniqueness to usher in a television show that encourages women to walk in faith and do what He has asked of them.

What has someone said or done to you that you that you have held on to that is keeping you from manifesting the greatness that is within you?

“There is nothing unique about me!” you may say.  Well yes there is.  God designed you.  You were not born to just take up space in the universe and then die.  No, you are here for a specific reason.  He’s gifted you with something that is ALL you!  Yes, others may do or have what you have or do.  But they don’t do it like YOU do!  Go read Jeremiah 1:5 again.  As a matter of fact, here it is for you! “I knew you before I formed you in your mother’s womb.  Before you were born I set you apart and appointed you as my prophet to the nations.”NLT

God is NOT, let me repeat, NOT looking for people who are perfect.  He can and will take all of you, every single piece of you that others have written off about you and use it for His glory.

Stop allowing negative thoughts and limiting beliefs to crowd your mind!  You are great!  You are a leader!  You can accomplish and do what God has ordained for you.  YOU ARE UNIQUE!

Use your uniqueness; stop doubting yourself.  Stop allowing people to speak into you words and thoughts of less than.  Let God use you.  Let God’s glory shine through your life!

Do you need proof of God using common imperfect people for his glory?  Read Exodus and the story of Moses; read David the shepherd boy story.  Want some 20th century folks?  How about that bible teacher that has a rough voice or that born and bred Jew ridiculed by their family that God now uses to bring forth His glory?  I’m sure you can think of some yourself.

  • Take some time to write out your uniqueness.  What is that thing that says you?  You probably don’t have to guess too hard to answer it.  It’s what others have negative things to say about it.
  • Once you’ve acknowledge it decide if you really want to be known by it.  You have to know that if it’s inherent, then it will be with you forever, so you might as well use it!
  • Talk to God about it and tell Him you want to claim your uniqueness but you don’t know how.  Ask Him to show you.

Exercise your greatness; start with who you are!

Relationship Insights That Will Help You Go From Purpose to Vision

Relationships, they come in all shapes, sizes and colors.  From familial, to work, to spiritual to friends, they’re there.  Then you have the good ones, the bad ones, the loving, hurtful, toxic or empowering ones.  Well they all do one thing – grow you!

The word relationship is defined as a connection, association, or involvement; an emotional or other connection between people.

You are in a relationship right now – with me!  Think about that.

As a woman pursuing her purpose in God, desperately seeking the way to live out the greatness she knows she is called to, you are going to experience relationships that will empower you, teach you, test you, hurt you and disappoint you.

When I first started this journey of living my life on purpose with God at the forefront, I thought everyone would be happy for me.  Tereciah had found her purpose!  I was so excited that I knew, finally, why I was here on earth and I was bursting at the seams to do something with the gifts, talents, and skills God had given me and allowed me to learn.  I was ready!

People didn’t get it.  And it hurt – a lot.

My husband didn’t get it; my family didn’t get it; the people at work didn’t get it and even some of my Christian friends didn’t get it.  Talk about being deflated!

However, I did not allow those relationships to stop me or derail me and if you are in this situation right now, don’t let those relationships hinder or stop you as well.

Here are some quick insights to help you walk out this journey from purpose to vision.

  • Who Has Your Ear?

I once heard someone say that whoever has your hear has your mind.  If you allow people to speak words of doubt or lies to you, you will start to believe it. You will see yourself as the words they have spoken.  Words DO have power; whether spoken by you or by others.

  •  Surround Yourself

Not everything is good for you and the same principal holds true for relationships.  Not all relationships have your best interest at heart.  Surround yourself with individuals that are positive, willing to share, encourages you and is growing spiritually.  You want to be able to see fruitfulness manifesting in their lives.  You want to see these individuals doing what it takes to bring their vision into reality.  You want to see faith in action, and with that faith iron will sharpen iron.  In other words your faith will grow and increase because of their faith and vice versa.

  •  Disassociate and Pray!

There will be people in your life – family, friends and haters – that you will have to stop associating with.  It doesn’t mean that you don’t care for them or that you don’t love them anymore.  But you are trying to do God’s will and be obedient.  They may not understand.  If that is the case then keep your distance, be cordial and pray.

Well, what if it’s a spouse or a child or a parent or a best friend?  Then hold your peace and pray; hard (that’s another blog post)!

  •  Know Yourself

What things inspire you?  How do you like to be encouraged?  What traits are important to you in an individual (integrity, friendliness, etc.)  How do you see yourself?  Are you willing to grow?  What things are you willing to accept or not accept in an individual?  What type of relationship are you looking for?  Are you willing to change if necessary?  Are you willing to give to others?  Remember relationships come in different forms.

  •  Reflect and Learn

Take some time to reflect on relationships past and present.  Were they good or bad?  How did you end up in the relationship?  How did you grow?  What lesson did you learn?  Were there mistakes then that you see yourself making now? How have you changed?  Why did the relationship come to an end?  How do you feel about the individual or the situation?

Sometimes God removes individuals from our lives because He knows they are not good for us.  There are times when they are only there for a season – or two, and other times He removes you because He needs you alone.  He needs to pour into you; cleanse you; get you into spiritual shape.

  •  God First

Above everything and all else keep God first.  Let him lead and guide you.  Read his word, follow His decrees and allow Him to call you friend!

I hope these few insights have helped you in walking out your purpose to the big picture of what God says is possible for your life; your vision.

In my relationship with you, I hope we can continue to grow together!

To Your Greatness!

Vision to Reality – 5 Easy Steps to Manage Your Time More Effectively

                    Stone steps leading to ocean

By the time you read this the 4th of July holiday will have come and gone and you’ll be winding down to your week – or just getting started depending on where you are and what you are doing.

If you took a couple of days off for the holiday you’ll probably find yourself sluggish in getting back into some sort on normalcy on Monday.

Summer is in full swing, the kids are out of school and you’re wearing multiple hats and juggling various roles.

I know you are busy, but here is a question for you?  How have you altered your summer lifestyle to accommodate God, family, and your vision?

Did you find that you had more time to work on your vision?  What about spending quality time with God?  What goals have you made for yourself and what do you find yourself needing help with?

In order for your vision to proceed you must make time to work it.

I once had a mentor tell me when I first started out, that “the vision was only as good as they vessel.”  Let me repeat that for you because you’ve got to truly understand it.

The vision is only as good as the vessel.

You are the vessel and your vision – the big picture of what God says is possible for your life – starts and stops with you.  God cannot force you to do anything.

So here is a short video I recorded just for you to assist you in managing your time more effectively – starting on Monday.

You can view it on your mobile phone, iPad or even your home computer, just view it and apply it to your life.

Be Blessed!

Can You Hear Me Now?

Q.        What’s the difference between the woman that’s moving in her vision and the woman that isn’t?view details

A.        They haven’t completely told God yes.  Meaning they haven’t fully committed themselves – mentally and spiritually – to the vision God says is possible for their lives.

They hear what others say; they read what others write and they see what others are doing, yet they do not move.

They have mouths, but they speak not; eyes have they, but they see not. They have ears, but they hear not; neither is there any breath in their mouths. Psalm 135:16-17 KJV

From God to You…

Can You Hear Me Now?

Can you hear me now?  I am calling to you.  “How are you calling Lord?”, you ask.  By my teachers, and pastors, and my bible study leaders. By my writers and life coaches and my business leaders.  By my examples I send your way; by the words I have spoken to you and the promises I have declared over you.

Can you hear me now?

I want you.  I need you.  The time has come for you to move.  Fear is no longer an option.  If you fear it’s because of your “lack of surrender and submission” to the call I have placed in your life.

Can you hear me now?

I can’t use you if you won’t fully commit.  I can’t lead you if you won’t follow.

Then said Jesus unto his disciples, If any man will come after me, let him deny himself, and take up his cross, and follow me.   For whosoever will save his life shall lose it: and whosoever will lose his life for my sake shall find it (Matthew 16:24-25 KJV).

The people, they’re waiting for you.  “What people, Lord?” you ask.  The ones whose lives I’ve called you to touch.  The ones I’ve ordained you to change.  The ones I will empower you to speak into.  The ones that are slowly dying  emotionally, physically, and mentally because of your hesitancy to move.

Can you hear me now?  I love you.  Trust me.

Scared?  Why?  I am with you.  I will strengthen you.  I will help you.  I promise to uphold you with my righteous right hand (Isaiah 41:10).

Prove me, my daughter.  Prove me, my son, and see if I will not open up the windows of heaven and pour upon you blessings for your obedience (Malachi 3:10).

Prove me and see if I will not guide you in my way everlasting.  I am calling, I am waiting.  PROVE ME!

Can you hear me now?

6 Key Ways to Know if You’re in a Transition

Change is never comfortable.  Sometimes it can be downright painful!  But it’s part of life, and at times the will of God.

view details

Change can manifest in different areas of our lives and when it comes, we are not sure how or the best way to respond.  Relationships, such as marriage or divorce; Emotions, such as death or birth; Career, as in promotion or retirement and Spiritual Growth – it’s all there.  We find ourselves going through phases, a shift, growth – a transition.

Are you in transition from your purpose to your vision?

What is vision? “It is the big picture of what God says is possible for your life.”

Here are 6 key ways to know if you’re in a transition.  A vision transition.

1.     An Inner Restlessness

When you’re in transition, especially at the beginning stage, life may feel as if it’s in limbo.

There is discomfort and discontent.  Not physical discomfort, but emotional and spiritual discomfort.  Your old self seems to be disappearing.  The things you once did you don’t enjoy as much anymore.  The people you associated with, you’ve withdrawn or don’t seek their counsel any more.  And the spiritual walk you had before – or lack of – doesn’t seem to be enough.  You find yourself seeking a change, but what sort of change you can’t describe.  Something is off, but you don’t quite know what it is.  You don’t feel like “you” and you’re desperately trying to figure it out.

2.     A Desire For a Deeper Relationship With God

The word relationship means having a connection, association or involvement.  Have a personal one means having a deeper, one-on-one connection, association or involvement.

When your mind is a-twitter and you can’t seem to put your finger on what’s out of place in your life. When you start experiencing feelings of discontent and life feels meaningless, then you start searching for answers and comfort, encouragement.  You go to the one whom you know has the answers; God.

A relationship starts to build and you have a desire to know and learn more about Him.  In this stage you may start attending church services regularly, or find yourself in the Bible more often.  You start growing and God starts to speak to you in your own way.  His Spirit is there cocooning   you as you grow.

The more you seek after Him, the more you grow.  Your faith grows and His desires for your life are revealed.

3.     The Soul Searching

Soul searching, it sounds so deep and serious!  But it’s really a good time. In this stage you’re asking questions.  Questions like, “God, what is your plan for my life?  What is my purpose?  Why am I here on earth?”  You start to look deep within yourself, searching for clues as to who the real you is and how to live this real person fully and authentically.

You develop a desire to please God and you start asking and wondering how you can live a life that is on purpose with Him at the center of what you do.

You consider serious changes to your life, career, family and finances.  There is a lot of introspection and examination. You may consider the ultimate question of “If I could do one thing for the rest of my life and not have to worry about finances or time, what would it be?”  God reveals even more of what He has for you and your purpose, the ultimate reason you are here on earth is ignited.

4.     Quest for knowledge and understanding

Clarification, direction, purpose, reason; these are all information you are in search of.  This stage usually consists of individuals wanting and seeking more knowledge and understanding.

It involves a lot of digging deep and doing some research and examination.  You learn things about yourself in this phase that you didn’t know about.  Things you’re glad you learned and others you would have preferred to not acknowledge.

Some call it a wilderness experience.  Some may say it’s a breaking experience; however, both are due to the purging, cleansing, improving and repenting that happen in this stage.

You seek guidance and direction from individuals that can assist in getting clarity and direction in life; individuals such as Life Coaches, pastors or business leaders.

Seminars, workshops or conferences that will empower and guide you, are usually prevalent during this stage.  You research and follow others that you feel can speak into your life through their sermon, classes, speeches, or books.  You read, you listen, and you apply.  A change starts to happen.  You can feel it and others can see it.

You invest in yourself.  You don’t mind spending money on the resources that will help you to grow and move into a more fulfilling life in Christ.  You start to flex your wings and test what you’ve accomplished so far.

5.     Ready, Set …No, wait, I think I’m stuck!

The most challenging phase!  In this stage you’re ready to walk into what God says is yours.   You’re ready to do what God has asked you to do, or place in your heart.

You want to get out there because it’s been simmering within you for so long.  You want to do His will, but you don’t quite know how.  In this stage you may have to learn new skills, change a mindset, move to another state, get rid of some friends or take big steps.

Defeating qualities such as fear, doubt, or insecurity begins to raise their ugly heads.  You struggle to move from the idea, the mandate, to the actual progression and manifestation of what you know is possible for your life.  In essence, sometimes the individual becomes stuck.  Not because of a lack of desire, but because of a lack of faith.  The foothold of fear is refusing to let go.

6.     A Walk of Faith

This stage is the best one!  I call it the “okay God, I don’t know how, but I’m doing it anyway” stage.  In this stage you have moved beyond the fear and doubts and other hindrances and is actually doing God’s vision for your life.

You literally depend on God to lead you and guide you in your vision walk.  You go to Him and wait for Him to answer before you move.

Your study of the word is deeper, your faith is stronger and you not only know the word for yourself but your authority in things of your vision is on point.  You are speaking those things that are as they should be and you have no

Doors start to open.  Favor and blessings are manifested and individuals are drawn to you in bringing the vision into reality.

You are bold and confident with no apologies in what is happening in your life and where God is taking you.

***

These stages are not set in stone but are a guide for the person moving from purpose to walking, doing and living their God ordained vision.

Transition is an ever-changing and learning process.  There are different levels in any stage and it can take an individual several weeks to several months or perhaps year, to go thru the refining process that God has for them.

As long as we keep God in the fore front and understand that He has already laid the plans he has for our lives then as we walk through the path of life, we can place our faith in the fact that He’s got us in His righteous right hand.

Be Blessed!

ARE YOU READY TO GO FROM THE OLD INTO THE NEW?

When you look at the definition for the word Transition, it is defined as movement, passage, or change from one position, state, stage, concept, etc., to another; change.

We all go through a transition in life and they can come in different phases and forms.   A spiritual transition can come when God is ready to elevate you to His next level.

Several months back I was participating in a conference call on moving forward powerfully in our business, when the topic of “old wine skins” came up.  Specifically, “old wine skins that God wanted us to get rid of.”

The old wine skin that was being referred to was our “old selves”; the “old us.”

In order for those of us on the call to go where God was taking us, we had to let go of our old belief systems, mindsets and fears. African Americans,African descent, business men, business women, businesses, happiness, happy, men, nature, outdoors, persons, photographs, smiles, smiling, women

And that’s my question for you today:  What is your old wine skin that is keeping you from truly stepping out into what you earnestly desire and God’s will for your life?

What is that fear; the unbelief?  What is the mindset that has been a part of you for so long you don’t even recognize it?

To be transparent, let me tell you what my “old wine skin” was: Aloneness.  Not alone as in company or comfort – having people around, but Aloneness as in support.  The integral support I needed to move the vision God had given me forward. There is a difference.

Matthew 9:17 says “neither do people pour new wine into old wine skins. If they do, the skins will burst; the wine will run out and the wine skins will be ruined. No, they pour new wine into new wine skins, and both are preserved.”

During the time of Jesus wine was placed in animal skin – leather, and usually goat skin, to ferment.  The skin would bulge and stretch from the carbon dioxide that was being released and cause the skin to stretch almost beyond their limit.

Well that’s you being stretched.  You’re almost to bursting with all the old stuff God had to clean out of you.

Before God can pour more of Him into you, before He can take you to that next level, He needs you to get rid of one last thing.  That thing that has lain dormant hidden behind other issues and causes: Your Old Wine Skin.

You can’t carry it with you to where He’s taking you.  Where He’s taking you calls for total trust and faith; even when it seems impossible.

If a man therefore purge himself from these, he shall be a vessel unto honour, sanctified, and meet for the master’s use, and prepared unto every good work. 2 Tim 2:21 KJV.

Note: As you travel along the road to walking out your vision and manifesting your purpose, there will always be new levels you will have to attain. Each level you arrive at will require you getting rid of “old” things: Things that you acquired along the way and God does not want you to bring to the next.

Ask yourself, your old wine skin is it a belief system, a Mindset?

  • I am too old to start something new
  • I am not as educated as others will be in the field God has called me to
  • I have a past and people will look down on me
  • I have done lot’s of bad things in the pass; God may have forgiven me for some things but not all

Your old wine skin, is it a Fear?

  • God will not provide the help I need to carry out the vision He placed upon me
  •  I will not be able to find the mate I God has promised me and I will always be a single parent
  • I will not have enough money to do the things God desires of me and me of myself
  • I will fail and bring disappointment on myself and God

Most, if not all, of the mindset and fears had one thing in common, did you notice it?  Lack of faith!

Death and life are in the power of the tongue: and they that love it shall eat the fruit thereof. Prov 18:21

Faith is the substance of things hoped for, the evidence of things not seen. Heb 12:1

I will not; I have done; God will not.  These are all phrases that cancels out what we should be believing God for. Take some time and go before the Lord and inquire of Him what your old wine skin is.  Ask Him to show you where unbelief still resides.

Unbelief is tricky, it has many faces and it shows up in different places.  Places you wouldn’t think of.

And I say unto you, Ask, and it shall be given you; seek, and ye shall find; knock, and it shall be opened unto you. For every one that asketh receiveth; and he that seeketh findeth; and to him that knocketh it shall be opened. Luke 11: 9-10 KJV

So as you transition into your new wine skin, know that it is to make you a vessel of honor, ready for the master’s use!

The old you can’t hold the newness that God is getting ready to bring you into!

Be Blessed!
